Have you ever experienced that less than award-winning customer service at Home Depot in the past? Well, Arthur Blank has taken that same sloth-like customer service methodology and applied it to his decision to allow Dan Quinn to remain the Falcons head coach.
The Falcons who are now entering the 5th week of the NFL season with a 0-4 record have not displayed anything that resembles any kind of improvement over last year’s team which finished the season at 7-9. But don’t be fooled by that less than impressive record because the team was actually 3-9 before winning 4 meaningless games at the end of the season.
Blank who really does move like a sloth when it comes to Dan Quinn has always shown an extra level of loyalty to his employees, but this time he has gone too far. Statistically, the Falcons have the 2nd worst defense in the NFL behind the Seattle Seahawks who are actually 4-0.
Wow, the difference between a great coach with a bad defense in Pete Carroll and a bad coach with a bad defense in Dan Quinn has never been so clear. Polar opposites.
To this point, the Falcons have given up 138 points in 4 games which means if you’re the Carolina Panthers this weekend, you can expect to score around 34 points against the Falcons on Sunday. That’s right the Falcons are giving up 10 more points a game than the year before.
While Blank’s Home Depot is a great American Business success story, he has taken his loyalty to Quinn to a kryptonite level. It’s not like I have some kind of magically stat machine that Arthur Blank doesn’t have direct access too? It’s called ESPN.com Arthur.
Now it has been 6 months since my wife and I first started the process of ordering a new front door from Home Depot, lets just say the old door is still there and so is Dan Quinn. Coincidence? I think not.
